The Green Planet is one of Dubai’s premier family attractions, with this magical indoor rainforest providing unforgettable animal encounters. 

This biodome is teeming with animal and plant life wandering beneath, among and above the tree canopies that fill the dome. Your family can simply tour the rainforest and admire the inhabiting creatures from afar, while braver children can enjoy up-close meetings with the local residents. 

You can also book encounters with a variety of stunning animals, from birds and armadillos to reptiles and sloths, while other experiences include: 

Zookeeper for a day

Children can become a zookeeper for a day, shadowing the expert team as they visit the in-house laboratories and care for the exotic species that live in the biodome. 

Camping in the rainforest

Kids and adults can camp inside the biodome in cosy tents with a mattress, pillows, sheets, and blankets. In the evening, you’ll go on a nocturnal animal tour and take part in a scavenger hunt before waking up to feed the animals and enjoy a complimentary breakfast. 

Nature's palette biodome

Suitable for all ages, you can try your hand at creating some artwork in the ambient surroundings of the rainforest. You’ll get a full set of painting materials and guidance from an expert instructor to help you form a masterpiece to treasure.

Conquer the IMG Worlds of Adventure

With attractions for kids of all ages - and adults too – the IMG Worlds of Adventure makes for a superb family day out. 

There are exhilarating roller coasters and epic live shows across the five adventure zones at this huge indoor theme park. Watch your kids be blown away as they encounter life-size dinosaurs in The Forbidden Territory, meet Ben10 in a pulse-racing 5D experience and explore the slides, ladders and tunnels of the Adventure Fortress. 

Families can team up with the likes of Iron Man, Captain America and the Hulk in the Marvel Zone or step into the world of LazyTown for another interactive adventure in the Cartoon Network zone. 

There’s now a dedicated IMG Kids Zone too, a giant inflatable adventure playground that’s suitable for even the littlest ones in the family. Toddlers can enjoy climbing walls, a football pitch, slides and more in this kid-friendly world where everything is soft.

For thrill-seeking families, iFly Dubai is a must. Kids and adults alike can suit up for this adrenaline-pumping indoor skydive, which will see you suspended in mid-air as the wind rushes through your hair. 

Take it in turns to fly with the guidance of a professional instructor, learning skydiving techniques as you soar above the Magic Planet amusement park in the City Centre Mirdif mall.

Have a laugh at the Museum of Illusions

Ever wondered what life would be like if your toddler was twice your size? Get a glimpse of this frightening prospect at the giggle-inducing Museum of Illusions! 

This family-friendly hub of visual, sensory and educational experiences is sure to leave both you and your kids amazed – and slightly bemused (in a good way).  

At the museum, you can snap memorable photos as you walk in an upside-down world, tiptoe along a bridge surrounded by a spinning vortex and see your family duplicated at a mind-bending cloning table. 

You can easily spend a couple of hours exploring the museum with your family thanks to its extensive collection of interactive exhibits and illusion rooms, as well as a gallery of mind-bending images.

The AYA Universe is a unique experience for families, with 12 mesmerising displays that engage audiences of every age. 

You and your family will be transported to alternative worlds through interactive, light-based experiences that blend art and cutting-edge technology. 

Let your young ones lead the way as you wander through themed rooms, where stunning lighting, projections and music create distinctive atmospheres. There’s no pre-determined route through the exhibitions, so kids are free to explore as they please, led by sensory sensations. 

The interactivity of the experiences will be sure to keep young ones interested for hours – they can create colourful swirls as they wade through rivers of light, and climb on structures among forests of glowing orbs.

AYA Universe: good to know

  • Entrance is free for children aged 3 years old or below. Collect tickets at the customer service desk

Take things to new heights at Sky Views

Dubai is renowned for its towering skyscrapers and stunning city views, and you can enjoy all that – along with further exciting experiences to keep kids entertained – at Sky Views

At the Sky Views Observatory on floors 52 and 53 of the Address Sky View Hotel, you’ll find breathtaking angles of the nearby Burj Khalifa and Downtown Dubai. 

Accessed by a panoramic glass elevator, the observatory provides more than simply jaw-dropping vistas. Families can walk across a 46m glass floor to get an uninterrupted, leg-wobbling view of the ground some 219m below. Snap a once-in-a-lifetime picture of you and your young ones seemingly levitating above the cityscape. 

For the most daring families, there’s more adrenaline-pumping experiences on offer. Head down the Glass Slide, a transparent tube that wraps around the tower’s exterior, for a truly unforgettable ride from floor 53 to 52. 

On another level of exhilaration is the Sky Views Edge Walk, a full circle, hands-free walk around the exterior of the tower’s main pod. There are no windows or barriers between you and the edge, letting you lean right over the street below, suspended only by your bungee cord.

The Palm Jumeirah is one of Dubai’s most iconic sights, and families can enjoy this incredible location from above with an unforgettable ride on the Dubai Balloon

This tethered helium balloon gently rises some 225m, offering you and your family a tranquil morning or evening in the Dubai sky. With flights during sunrise and sunset hours, you’ll have the chance to see the city in a glorious orange glow. There’s even the option to fly after dark if you wish, when the twinkling lights of the city are in full force. 

There’s plenty of space in the gondola for larger families, and its stroller-accessible too. Kids under 3 years old even ride for free! 

Dubai Balloon at Atlantis: good to know

When it comes to family-friendly destinations in Dubai, there’s few more suitable than the Global Village

This vast celebration of worldwide cultures, where Tuesdays are exclusively reserved for families, couples and ladies, has countless experiences and attractions for children. 

Daily shows include a choreographed laser display, brilliant impromptu performances from a Bollywood flash mob and The Lion Tamer, who launches into daring acrobatics in a circus display for kids. 

There are hundreds of rides and games to try at a themed carnival too, from the G-forces of the Jamaica Drum’s spinning arms to the splashes and sprays of the Miami Surf boats. 

There are also hundreds of street food vendors, restaurants and cafes throughout the Global Village, meaning your family can stay fuelled for a full day of fun.

Global Village: good to know

Opening times: 16:00-00:00 Sunday to Wednesday, 16:00-01:00 Thursday to Saturday (the park closes during the summer, with its opening season typically running from October to May)

  • Children under 3 years old and seniors above 65 years old are eligible for complimentary tickets. These tickets must be claimed at the ticket booths, and cannot be redeemed online 

  • Tuesdays are exclusively reserved for families, couples and ladies (unless the Tuesday coincides with a public holiday) 

  • Parents are encouraged to register and pick up a free wristband for children, provided by the ticket booths. These will help the guest services team reunite lost children with their parents 

  • There is stroller and wheelchair access to all attractions

Which day is family day at the Global Village? 

Tuesdays (aside from those that fall on a public holiday) are exclusively reserved for families, couples and ladies. Men are generally not allowed to enter the park on Tuesdays unless they are accompanied by a woman. 

Children under 3 years old can enter for free on any day. 

How old to you have to be to go on Skywalk Dubai?

You must be between 12 and 65 years old to go on the Edge Walk at the Sky Views hotel. Those under the age of 18 years old will need in-person parental consent. 

There are height and weight restrictions too. Participants must be between 1.3m and 2m tall, and weigh between 30kg and 120kg.
