The Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve
You’ll be staying in the mesmerising sandy landscape that is the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve (DDCR) when you book overnight desert camping with Arabian Adventures. This huge, protected nature reserve is just a 45-minute drive from downtown Dubai and covers an area of 225 square kilometres. The DDCR offers enchanting starry skies after nightfall, stunning sunrises and sunsets as well as a variety of native plants and wildlife.

Yes! Our overnight desert camping experiences allow you to spend the night in the desert, where you can see extraordinary wildlife and stunning starry skies emerge.
When you book our famous Overnight Desert Safari, you’ll stay in a deluxe private tent with a terrace space where you can enjoy the serenity of the desert.
You’ll also be able served a delicious BBQ dinner in a traditional Bedouin-inspired setting and a cooked breakfast in the morning.
As well as sleeping in the desert, you’ll also be treated to exciting activities like a walking night safari, a camel ride and a drive through the dunes in a 4x4.
When you book our Overnight Desert Safari, we recommend that you wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to stay cool before the sun sets – and bring a jumper for the evening when the temperature drops, especially if you’re visiting in the winter months around January.
You should also pack sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat to protect yourself from the sun.
Fresh linen and towels are provided in your tent, but you should bring any amenities you’d typically need for an overnight stay like toiletries and your toothbrush.
While the temperature does drop at night in the Dubai desert, it can still be upwards of 30°C in the hottest months from June to August.
The coldest nights tend to be in January, when it can be around 15°C after dark.
Regardless of when you’re heading out for an overnight desert camping experience, there’s no harm in bringing a light sweater, as you’ll be spending some time in an air-conditioned 4x4.
Desert animals tend to come out night to avoid the intense heat during the day and conserve energy, making overnight desert camping a great way to spot some fascinating nocturnal or crepuscular creatures.
On our Overnight Desert Safari, you’ll head out on an exciting walking night safari, when our expert guides will help you spot animals like the sand fox and desert runner lizard as they emerge in the darkness.
You’ll also have a chance to see more wildlife on a morning drive through the desert.
