We begin this fascinating excursion by travelling to the magnificent Jumeirah Mosque, past the modern palaces that sprawl along the Jumeirah coastline. Moving on to the Bastakiya, we stop for a while to admire the traditional wind-towered merchants' houses before visiting the nearby Dubai Museum.

Housed in the 150-year-old Al Fahidi Fort, the museum records the city's past as an important pearl diving and trading centre. Continuing our journey by abra (water taxi), we cross the Creek towards our final destination, the bustling alleyways of the gold and spice souks.
